Meet the Leadership Team

 

Kwaku Afram

Founder / Chairperson

  • The Chairperson shall be the chief spokesperson of the association.
  • The Chairperson shall be the chief administrator and preside over all meetings.
  • The Chairperson shall represent the association as and when necessary or delegate the  Vice Chairperson or any of the executive member(s) where possible to act on behalf of the association.
  • He/she shall have the responsibility to sign documents on behalf of the association.

Elsie Owusu-Kumi

Vice Chairperson

  • The vice Chairperson shall assist the Chairperson to discharge his or her duties effectively and efficiently.
  • The vice chairperson shall act in the absence of the Chairperson to ensure smooth running of the association.

Dorcas Baafi (Akua)

Secretary

  • The Secretary shall take charge of all official correspondence of the association.
  • He/she shall take minutes of all meetings.
  • The Secretary shall keep up-to-date records of all contact details of members and ensure compliance in line with GDPR and relevant legislations.
  • The Secretary shall produce administrative documents and material i.e. letterhead, registration forms, mailing list etc.

Ophelia Turkson

Treasurer

  • He/she shall receive and keep account of all monies paid and make disbursement in accordance with the directives of the executive members.
  • He/she shall liaise closely with the Financial Secretary and be part of the Financial Committee.  
  • He/she shall not disburse any money without the prior authorisation of the executive body.
  • In any given emergency, the treasurer shall disburse money with the authorisation of the President and / or Secretary.
  • All approved expenses incurred by any member on behalf of the association shall be reimbursed accordingly by the treasurer.

Florence Owusu

NQSW & Sudent Support Services

 

  • Manage the NQSW & Student Support Services and related services.
  • Support students with assignments and research
  • Provide support around placements and related issues
  •  Help students with their CVs and Job interviews
  • Provide mentoring support to students and newly qualified social workrers.

Angela Appiah

Training & Development Lead (Children)

  • Identify organisations and groups, Radio / TV stations for Awareness sessions within the community.
  • Produce and organise training materials for Awareness and outreach sessions and ensure materials are provided for sessions.
  • Have oversight responsibilities of the activities of the Outreach Team
  • Be responsible for the Research Team to ensure that members with up to date research and relevant material to improve practice
  • Ensure that member benefit / development sessions are identified incorporated with general meetings

Janet Boakye (Yaa Boakyewah)

Organising Secretary

  • To assist the Training & Development leads in organising groups, Radio / TV stations for Awareness sessions within the community.
  • He/she shall see to the arrangements of meetings and meeting places and to ensure that members are reasonable refreshed during meetings.
  • He/she shall from time to time organise all activities for the association.
  • He/she shall have oversight responsibilities of the Events Committee
  • To organise and oversee all Fundraising and Charitable projects of the association

Stella Owusu (Maame Wusuaa)

Organising Secretary

  • To assist the Training & Development leads in organising groups, Radio / TV stations for Awareness sessions within the community.

Laura Dzotsi

Welfare Officer

  • The welfare officer will work to provide the necessary support to the members and seek to resolve social problems.
  • The welfare officer shall deal with all cases of celebrations, bereavements, indispositions, and other concerns according to the regulations of the association.
  • The welfare officer shall oversee the Welfare Committee to develop and update a welfare plan and policy and submit it to members for approval.
  • The welfare team shall follow up all welfare related issues brought to their attention and provide a feedback to the executive for any necessary action.
  • The welfare leads shall maintain a very effective communication relationship among the executives and members.
  • The welfare officer shall contact a member following two consecutive absences from meetings.

William Agyapong

Financial Secretary

  • The financial secretary shall keep proper financial records for the association.
  • Oversee the development of Business Plans for GHASWA projects.
  • Oversee the activities of the Financial Committee.
  • He/she shall submit a quarterly statement at a general meeting.
  • He/she shall ensure that members who default payment of their dues are reminded confidentially.

John Dumenya

Publicity & Media

  • To ensure that the association has a continuous presence on social media and within the communities.
  • To ensure that the association website and various social media platforms are regularly maintained
  • To ensure the association has appropriate equipment for the activities of the association
  • To oversee the development and update of banners, flyers and general information  for the association and the general public.
